The Battle of Bunker Hill started the whole American Revolutionary War. It was in the year of 1775, and was a very close war. There was debates about who won and who lost, but it all depended on how you were defining win in this case. And also how much time you are looking at. Many sources have many facts, however some are conflicting, of course. Now without problem, we are able to tell you about who was involved, what exactly happened, when it occured, where it took place, why it was so important and why it was going on, and finally how it grew to it's peak and actually happened.
The Battle of Bunker Hill was between two distinctive groups of people bent on being successful. Those people were the people of Britain and the Loyalists, and the people of Conneticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Rhode Island. The people of the states were called Patriots, or the Militias. They were categorized as Minutemen. They used what they could find as weapons, mostly old rifles with a low supply of ammunition. The Britains were very well equiped and were the most feared army of that time. Patriot Colonel William Prescott led 1,200 minutemen up Bunker Hill, across the river from Boston. In response to this, at sunrise, the British General, William Howe, spotted the Americans and ferried approximately 2,400 redcoats (soldiers) across the harbor to attack the rebel's position. Afterward, approximately 1,000 British lay dead or wounded, while only around 400 Americans were harmed. Even later Commander George Washington reached Bunker Hill to find around 16,000 troops. The colonists had decided that action must be taken in order to stop the threatening British movement.
The Battle of Bunker Hill was the first major battle of the Revolutionary War. Despite the name of the battle, it was actually fought on a nearby hill called Breed’s Hill. It involved the British and the colonists. The colonists got a first taste of what war would be like. Although the first battle ended up being a British victory, the colonists proved they could fight because they killed and wounded over 1,000 British soldiers. The patriots’ losses only totaled to about 420. The goal of the battle was to have the British either retreat back to England or surrender. The colonists planned to place cannons on Breed’s Hill and Bunker Hill. That way they could easily bombard the British ships in the Boston Harbor. The British had captured the Charlestown Peninsula but suffered many losses with their soldiers and officers.
The Battle of Bunker Hill took place during the American Revolution. On the day of June 17, 1775, the patriots had marched to Bunker Hill for a surprise canon attack on the British ships. It was the first year of conflict in the beginning of the Revolutionary War. At approximately midnight, the patriots marched up the hill quietly as possible armed with weapons. The fight lasted throughout the night, towards early morning.
The Battle of Bunker Hill took place in the British occupied city of Boston and its harbor. The British's plan was to overtake the Charleston Peninsula. When the colonists heard of this plan they hurried to stop the british troops before they arrived. They setup a camp on Bunker Hill. They marched at night and stopped on Breeds hill. The fight lasted about a few hours.
The Battle of Bunker Hill took place on June 17, 1775. The colonists set up camp on Bunker Hill after getting word that the British had a plan to take over the Charleston Peninsula. Also Boston, was taken by the British which was on the bay of Bunker Hill.. Another reason for this battle taking place was the british trying to overtake the Dorchester heights. The colonists thought of that as being the last straw and they were now even more willing to fight for freedom. All the British did with the tax business was provoke the colonists into a fight.
